Welcome to Flu Season
The holidays are over, germs have been shared, and flu season is in full swing. You may be wondering how to keep the flu at bay. At Direct Primary Care of Boca Raton, we provide the annual flu shot, which is included in our monthly membership.
We strive for preventative, holistic type care for you and your family. So as a friendly reminder, here are six tips to help you weather this year’s flu season:
Distance yourself
Co-workers or friends may say something if you distance yourself, but it is always a good plan to keep away from people who are sick. You can politely excuse yourself if you are in a communal area when you hear coughing and sneezing.
Keep your hands away from your face
When you touch your face, after you touch a doorknob, gas pump, credit card machine, or any other surface, you can collect germs and then spread them by touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
Wash your hands frequently
Keeping your hands clean will protect you from germs. If you cannot wash your hands, it would be wise to keep sanitizer on you. However, whenever you get to a place where there is soap and water, wash your hands, even after sanitizer.
Implement and practice healthy habits
Always disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work, or school. It would be best to clean even more when you or someone in your household is ill. Get plenty of sleep, exercise, manage stress, stay hydrated, and eat nutritious food. On top of this, we recommend using the Metagenics line. Metagenics is a high-quality, science-based nutritional supplement, medical food, and lifestyle program designed to improve people’s health and support your body’s systems with pure, potent ingredients. Their products include, but aren’t limited to:
- General Wellness
- Healthy Blood Glucose Support
- Cardiometabolic Health
- Gastrointestinal Health
- Immune Health and Function
- Men & Women’s Health
- Muscle, Bone & Joint Health
- Neurological Health
- Stress Management
Stay home when you are not feeling well
If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. This will help prevent the spread of your illness to others. Also, you don’t want to pick up additional germs when you are running around. Rest and let your body fend off the flu in isolation.
Contain your germs
Flu viruses are spread mainly by droplets when people with flu cough, sneeze, or talk. It would be best to cover your mouth when you cough and sneeze. Remember, when you have a cold, it’s not kind to share it!
